July 22, 2000-Cleveland TN

After two weeks of rain delays the Cleveland Speedway Pony Stock division finally completed its biggest event of the season, the Mid Season Championship race. The top seeded three of the division, proved why their atop of the points standings by being the dominating factors of the entire night. Current points leader Justin Winters of Benton Tennessee stepped up to the challenge and extended his points lead by leading the 25 lap "A" Main flag to flag. Twenty four racers started the feature that saw plenty of action around the 1/3 mile dirt oval. Winters driving his white # J1 "Winters Homes" sponsored racecar raced past Benji Massengill and Mark Bishop to win the first of two heat races. Number three in points Todd Morrow and Massengill rounded out the top three finishers. In the second heat second place points contender Jason Spraker raced through the field from the near last row to pass by early race leader Chad Prentice for the victory. Tony Martin followed suit but could only get as high as third. As the field took the green flag Winters lead with Spraker, and Morrow following. Benji Massengill failed to get stopped quick enough when the yellow appeared for Mandy Shaw and Nick Webb in turn four, ending his good run early. Things got real bad also for Morrow and Spraker as they tangled in turn two for the second position. Morrow collected Jimmy Shields and Bishop sending himself to the rear of the field. Martin ended his run collecting the wall as one of the races many caution periods slowed the field. Morrow (minus clutch) raced back into the top five as the checkers waved for Winters. Spraker, Tony Arthur, Morrow and Chad Elliott finished third thru fifth.
