McDowell and Hommell to lead the charge in 14th Annual SAS Gobbler 75

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (November, 11) Dale McDowell, who calls Cleveland Speedway home, will be coming home November 23rd to run the 14th Annual Southern All Star Gobbler 75. In last years Gobbler win McDowell was the class of the field. He out qualified the other 73 Super Late Models with a new track record and went on to lead the event flag-to-flag for his third Gobbler win.

"I don't get to race at Cleveland Speedway as often as I would like. When I do get the chance it is always very special," said McDowell. "Last year when we won out third Gobbler 75 the car was one of the best I had ever had at Cleveland and that made it even better."

Young hot shoe Duayne Hommell, out of Newport, Tennessee, should be calling Cleveland Speedway home. Hommell, the 2002 Southern All Star champion, in everything but the name, has won all three SAS events at the 1/3 mile clay oval this season.

"This track has been really good to me and we enjoy racing here," said Hommell after winning the Fall Festival. "We look forward to coming back in November and closing out our Southern All Star Championship season here at Cleveland Speedway."

Joining McDowell and Hommell for the year end blast will be John Jones, Rex Richey, Mike Head, Terrance Nowell, Clint Smith, DeWayne Aldridge and a host of others.

Included in the one day event will be racing in all of Cleveland Speedways regular divisions. Inquiries about rules in the Claimer Late Models, Hobby, Pony Stock and Street Stock have been coming in from all over the tri-state area. Cleveland officials are bracing for an over flow crowd both in the pits and in the stands.

For the 14th running of the Southern All Star Gobbler the pits will open at 1:00 PM with the grandstands opening at 4:00 PM. Drivers will start ironing out the track at 4:00 PM with qualifying, heats and the Gobbler 75 to follow. The first feature of the night will be the Gobbler 75 with local races to follow.

Cleveland Speedway is located on US 11 just north of the US 64 bypass in Cleveland, Tenn. For more information on the 14th Annual Gobbler 75 call the track (423) 479-8574 or visit www.clevelandspeedway.com/
