Cleveland Speedway 2008 Rules

These rules are for Drivers only and are not intended to impose any responsibility on Cleveland Speedway, Inc.
Changes from the 2007 rules - changes/additions are highlighted in blue and deletions are highlighed in green with a strike through

Cleveland Speedway, Inc. shall incur no liability to any party, whether a participant, spectator, guest or business invitee.

HOBBY RULES


  1. BODIES
    1. 1970 through 2001 models
    2. Limited to AMERICAN MADE CARS ONLY.
    3. NO COMPACTS, CONVERTIBLES, SPORTS CARS, PICK-UP TRUCKS OR STATION WAGONS.
    4. Steel, aluminum or fiberglass bodies permitted.
    5. Bodies must be stock appearing (no exceptions)
    6. Nosepiece, roof and tailpiece must go together.
    7. Rear quarters must mold and angle up to fit tailpiece
    8. Deck width 70" except at rear of car which must taper in evenly no less than 62" no more than 66" at both bumper and spoiler.
    9. All weight must be bolted on.
    10. Stock bumpers or round tubing 1 3/4 inch permitted. Ends must be turned in.
    11. Cylinder must be in line with ball joint 1" tolerance.
    12. No holes or hinged bumper. Fillers must be min. 8".
  2. ENGINE
    1. 350-2600 lbs at any time
    2. 400-2800 lbs at any time
    3. Blocks may be bored to limit of castings
    4. Flat top pistons only
    5. Pistons must not come above deck surface
    6. Rods and cranks must be stock or must run the following: S.R. only forged rod, no billet or machined rods.) May run Eagle #CRS55700B3D rods length. Chevy 350 stroke 3.480 rod length 5.70, Ford 351 stroke 3.500 rod length 5.955, Mopar 360 stroke 3.580 rod length 6.123, Eagle crank #4350 34805700, and 400 crank part #440037505700 rod length 5.700 ok no knife edging or light weight crank allowed. May run scat equivalent part #'s or any aftermarket cast steel crank or stock appearing cast rod.
    7. Polishing of rods permitted
    8. NO BOW TIE RODS OR CRANKSHAFTS
    9. Balancing permitted
    10. No Knife edging or lightening of crankshaft.
    11. NO DRY SUMP OIL SYSTEM
  3. HEADS
    1. Stock steel heads only.
    2. No polishing or porting permitted
    3. No aftermarket or BOW TIE HEADS.
    4. Single valve spring stock, outer diameter (solid lift cam & dual valve springs must add 50 lbs.)
    5. Combustion Chamber to read no less the 60 CC
    6. Intake runners Chevrolet 192cc Max, Ford & Chrysler 200cc Max
    7. No Machine cuts in combustion chamber or grinding model head available for inspection
  4. CAMS
    1. Flat tappet hydraulic cam and lifters only
    2. Lifters no larger than O.E.M. Stock
    3. Roller Rocker arms permitted.
    4. Solid lift cam & dual valve springs must add 50 lbs.
  5. VALVE SIZE LIMIT
    1. 1.940 intake
    2. 1.500 exhaust
  6. INTAKE MANIFOLD
    1. Aluminum intake permitted
    2. No working or grinding of any kind
    3. One (1) FOUR BARRELL CARBURETOR ONLY
    4. NO DOMINATOR OR PREDATOR CARBURETORS
  7. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM
    1. Any type headers allowed
    2. No turned down pipes allowed.
  8. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
    1. All primary IGNITION COMPONENTS must be as near stock as possible
    2. O.E.M. ELECTRONIC IGNITION ONLY
  9. FLYWHEEL
    1. Stock, steel flywheel. No lightening of any kind.
    2. Stock Clutch & Pressure Plate or American Motors Clutch & Pressure Plate
    3. No direct drives allowed or aluminum flywheels
  10. FUEL CELL AND FUEL - GAS ONLY
    1. Fuel cell must be in a 20 GAUGE STEEL CANISTER, with 2 in STRAPS OR WIDER and moved into rear space and must be fastened securely in a safe manner
    2. Fuel cells must be in all cars.
  11. WHEEL BASE
    1. MUST BE STOCK FOR MAKE AND MODEL
  12. ROLL BARS
    1. Steel roll bars are COMPULSORY and must be approved. ALUMINUM AND OTHER SOFT METALS NOT PERMITTED.
    2. Roll bars must be welded and must be no less than 1 1/2 inch outside diameter. Walls must be no less than .090 STEEL. No pipe fittings. allowed.
  13. FRAMES
    1. Upper tubular A-ARMS PERMITTED
    2. Rack and pinions Must add 50 lbs
    3. Stock frames or stock front clips from rear of engine block forward. Fabricated rear clips must be 2"x3" minimum.
    4. Suspension: must remain stock and Multi-leaf Rear suspension only. No single-leaf, 4-bar, etc.
    5. 3-link Must add 50 lbs
    6. Solid link or rubber mounted third link. No Bird Cages
    7. Single 90/10 Shock OK
  14. REAR AXLE
    1. STOCK EQUIVALENT or quick change. Must add 100 lbs. steel tube only. Safety hubs must ad 50 lbs.
    2. Locking rear end permitted
    3. Racing shocks permitted
    4. Wedge bolts permitted
    5. No independent suspension
  15. TRANSMISSIONS
    1. Automatic must be stock. No pass valves or aftermarket TORQUE CONVERTER OR PARTS
    2. No aftermarket transmissions
    3. Clutch type transmissions must be equipped with an explosion proof steel bellhousing
  16. SEATS
    1. May be stock or bucket type seats, but must be securely fastened to roll bars or rails.
  17. FIREWALL
    1. FIREWALL MANDATORY, FRONT AND REAR
  18. TIRES
    1. Any Legal Hoosier D55 or 1600
    2. 12 inch steel wheels
    3. Wide 5 wheels permitted, only with adaptors
    4. Beadlocks OK
  19. BRAKES
    1. Any type FOUR WHEEL BRAKES, except carbon fiber brakes.
  20. SPOILERS
    1. 6 inch or stock spoiler mounted in original position.
    2. Triangle Brace 12 inches long, no higher than spoiler.


IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL CARS HAVE AT LEAST ONE 5 LB. FIRE EXTINGUISHER READY TO USE - NO EXCEPTIONS
