Cleveland Speedway 2008 Rules

These rules are for Drivers only and are not intended to impose any responsibility on Cleveland Speedway, Inc.
Changes from the 2007 rules - changes/additions are highlighted in blue and deletions are highlighed in green with a strike through

Cleveland Speedway, Inc. shall incur no liability to any party, whether a participant, spectator, guest or business invitee.

LIMITED LATE MODEL MOTOR RULES

Late model rules apply except for tires, engine and weight (Weight- 2350 lbs. At anytime)
602 & 604 engines may race at 2200 lbs. with 12 inch spoiler

  1. BLOCK:
    1. OEM Cast iron V-8 block only.
    2. Maximum cylinder bore size, Chevrolet 4.060, Ford 4.060, Chrysler 4.060.
    3. After-market steel splayed main caps permitted.
    4. Main cap studs and straps permitted.
    5. Deburring block and plugging deck to strengthen block permitted.
    6. Plug or vent screen oil drain holes in lifter valley permitted.
    7. May surface block.
    8. Lifter bore must be OEM diameter for engine. Chevrolet .842, Ford .875 Chrysler .903
    9. Chevy Ford and Chrysler 362 Maximum cubic inch.
  2. CRANK:
    1. Any steel crank with the exception of titanium and or other exotic materials.
    2. May balance engine.
  3. RODS:
    1. Steel rods only.
    2. NO titanium or aluminum rods.
  4. PISTONS:
    1. Any flat top pistons and pins.
    2. NO dome pistons.
  5. CAM:
    1. Solid lift cam only.
    2. NO roller or mushroom cam.
  6. LIFTERS:
    1. Solid lifters only.
    2. NO roller or mushroom lifters.
    3. Lifter retaining tray permitted
    4. Lifter must be OEM diameter for engine. Chevrolet .842, Ford .875, Chrysler .903.
  7. TIRES:
    1. Hoosier 1600 or Shoulder Plated 55
  8. HEADS:
    1. These are the only heads permitted.
    2. Any 23 degree Steel Chevy head. Ford SVO Sportsman cast iron heads #M-6049-E351 & M-6049-N351, Chrylser cast iron W-2 (exception no raised runners, if using Pro Action must add 100 pounds.)
    3. CC limit on intake runner 200 maximum. No cc limit on combustion chamber.
    4. Valve angle and spacing must remain original production specs for heads being used.
    5. Steel valves only. (NO titanium valves.)
    6. Valve size maximum for all engines; Intake 2.050 and Exhaust 1.600
    7. Valve stem diameter 11/32 minimum for all engines.
    8. Under cut stems permitted, any type guides.
    9. Any valve springs, retainers and keepers.
    10. Guide plates, screw in studs and stud girdles permitted.
    11. Roller rocker arms, stud or shaft mount permitted.
    12. NO porting or polishing.
    13. NO port matching intake or exhaust runners.
    14. Racing valve jobs permitted, machine cut only.
    15. NO blending of valve jobs or casting.
    16. NO deburring of intakes or exhaust runners.
    17. Must add 50lbs. if over 200 cc runners.
  9. OILING SYSTEMS:
    1. Dry sump must add 50 pounds.
  10. INTAKE MANIFOLD:
    1. Any intake permitted. / May Port and polish.
  11. CARBURETORS:
    1. One four barrel permitted. / NO dominators permitted.
  12. IGNITION SYSTEMS:
    1. Any point type or electronic ignition system allowed. (No traction control devices allowed. MSD or electronic boxes may be bought for $300.)
  13. PROTEST AND PROTEST FEES:
    1. A $400.00 protest fee to pull one (1) cylinder head. This includes top-side of engine. A $100.00 fee for second cylinder head and $100.00 fee for camshaft.
